The COVID-19 pandemic has reminded us of the importance of nature, soil, and forests. When nature is compromised, humans cannot survive . So how can we coexist with and protect nature for the benefit of ourselves, society, and the nation?

From this starting point, we began researching and gathering knowledge both domestically and internationally. We traveled to learn from many teachers and then applied what we learned in our own area, experimenting and learning from mistakes many times , until we were able to create a forest ecosystem in our small garden in Ratchaburi province. Our goal is to further develop agricultural knowledge to create both monetary "value" and "worth" in other dimensions of life. We believe that this value and worth is not only wealth that can be passed on to the next generation, but also preserves the knowledge, skills, and culture of living in harmony with the forest and nature, and ultimately contributes to the wealth of the nation.

After working on this for some time, we came to the realization that it was unfortunate that the knowledge to create this value was so difficult to access, despite the vast gaps we still have in leveraging our resources and creating sustainable wealth.

“BerkPride 101,” The Unplugging’s new course, is designed to bridge the gap in knowledge about building ecosystems. This knowledge comes from trial and error, consultations with expert mentors, and research from hundreds of studies. It integrates this with understanding of capitalism and the arrival of technological disruption to usher in a new era. The goal is to impart this knowledge to those interested in creating value that can be passed on to future generations, benefiting the nation and the world.

In this course, we will discover:

  • The fundamentals of ecosystem creation, what are the controlling factors, and how to gather information to design spaces that are appropriate for each ecosystem.

  • Starting a proper forest restoration project involves in-depth exploration from site survey and tree species selection to producing high-quality seedlings, forest structure design, and ultimately, a meticulous reforestation process.

  • Forest management encompasses both addressing problems such as diseases, pests, and drought, as well as improving the quality of the trees.

  • The benefits of reforestation go beyond just providing retirement timber. What are the resulting products and how can they be further developed?
